The story behind the photograph

You know when a walk rewards you with something you weren’t expecting? This sunset in the Tararua Ranges has that feeling.

Warm light filters through the forest on Kapakapanui, picking out the trees and giving your eyes a path into the scene. It’s the sort of moment that makes you forget how far you’ve walked.
